It is well worth the wait! I found a PE today and couldn't pass it up! Anyone else score one yet?

ordered one at knifesite -steve is really friendly , and ngk was soldout- and i pray the carriers to be fast.. i'm in italy..

Hey Jazzman, I hope you like that Paramilitary. I'll have to get one on a later run. I've been a bit out of the knife loop lately.

Knifesite is great,Steve is holding me a PE until Wednesday.
Rellay great guy and I can't wait to get ahold of the Para.

Anthony,
I haven't seen any posts from you in a while, glad to see you back in action. I was at GP the other day and they hadn't seen you either, thought you must be scoring all your knives off the net or something. If you get the chance, check one out. I especially think that you'd like one. I had always wanted to carry a Military but the size was just wrong. I'm very pleased with the Para-

The Para has me pretty excited. I just love the S30V Mili I've got, carried nearly everyday since last Oct. I doubt the Para will take the place of my Milit, but I wanted one just the same. I don't know if the dual nested liners and compression lock will be to my liking or not. One of the reasons I love the Mili so much is due to the nested liner lock and NO liners. It's so light and thin, I just love it.

Sounds like those who have there Para's are more than pleased, I hope for the same reaction!

Come on Matt...lets hear what you think of it, and let's see some pics:)

Well, I haven't worked on any pics yet but they will probably come with time. First things first, here's my mini-review. As I've only had the knife for about 24 hours, I haven't gotten to give it a full head on test but it has excelled so far with the tasks I've given it.
Blade- The 3.1" blade of S30V is without a doubt, razor sharp. It is held in place with a strong detent and I don't see this knife opening in my pocket any time soon. The large opening hole makes opening the knife easy and it makes the Spyderdrop simple. This blade has plenty of belly and handles pull cuts well. The traction grooves on the top of the blade are a nice touch but I miss the grooves on the 50/50 choil.

Handle- Not a whole lot to say here. The classic, time proven Military handle but shrunken. Still, if you have large hands, don't despair as there is plenty of gripping room here. The large handle swell makes the knife sit well in the hand and the 50/50 choil allows the user to choke up on the blade for fine work. My only gripes are that the G-10 is a bit too abrasive for me and that I wish the clip were more deep set. The Para really peeps out of the pocket (it's no Gunting though).

Overall, the Paramilitary is a great knife and it's just the knife for me. I think that we all have waited for a long time and finally our wait has paid off. Try it if you are in the market for a solid, pocketable knife that will stand up to abuse.

I don't own a compression lock knife yet and am sort of kicking around the idea of a Paramilitary or leaf blade Lil Temperance. Any comments on which knife you would choose? Or do they seem like different knives for different purposes?

Both are hard core knives and both have LEO/Military uses. I don't know which I like more. The Para seems a bit more pocketable due to the thinness of the knife and the trad. clip. Both are excellent knives though!

I haven't handled a Paramilitary yet, but I'm quite familiar with the Lil' Temp. Keep in mind that the Para is a good bit lighter and slimmer. My personal Temp, a 440V TP model weighs in at 4.37 oz. The S30V model is advertised at 4.59 and the Paramilitary at 3.75 oz. Also the handle is .52" thick across the scales, so while it is short, it is not a small knife in any other way.

If you do decide to get a Temp, look for a TP model as well. I find the belly on the TP to be very useful as compared to the leaf point I had before. But if you're a steel freak, the TP only ever came in 440V to my knowledge.

I may have to see about a Paramilitary myself since I carry the Military on a nearly daily basis. It would have almost everything the Temp does in a lighter, thinner package. We'll see.

Jazzman, I believed I handled the same Paramilitary that you checked out at GP Knives. Just like you, I had to fight the urge to buy it. It is a perfect fit for my hand. I loved the size and I will get a plain one as soon as they become available again.

Anthony,
It's like a mini folding buzz saw isn't it! The ParaMilitary is definately a winner.

I just received 2 plain edge models yesterday-1 for me and 1 for my middle son. My first impression was...what a bargain. You get a heck of a lot of knife and features for a really good price. The G-10 scales are not to thin and beefy enough to offer a real hand filling grip. The blade is just like the military (even the larger Spydie hole) but proportionately shorter and both knives came Spyderco sharp out of the boxes. The compression lock is solid and simple enough to disengage when you want to but I don't see how it would ever become accidentaly disengaged. These are truly scaled back to a perfect size (for what I like). The nested liners are a great feature and the over all lightness of these is going to make them perfect for shorts weather.

If anyone could post an "in hand" pic, I would appreciate it.

I hope Spyderco converts the Military to a compression lock soon.
