I am wanting to trade or buy a military but I can't decide between the para or full size. Can someone post a pick of the para and regular next to common knives (710, native, delica, ect.). Also which do you prefer for edc? I am currently carrying a 710 and I like it although it is a little bigger than I really need, I would like a 3.5 blade but I will have to decide if the 3 or 4 in. would be the best compromise. Another question, what steel should I seek, I like S30V and D2, though I prefer S30V, but I heard about a S90V coming out? Thanks in advance.

Look at both. I started with the Millie then went to the P-Mil., and that's where I'm at. But it has gone the other way for others. Steel?? Research it!!! Then choose. I like S30V.

For edc I prefer smaller blades. I very rarely need anything longer than an inch and a half.

That's the full size Manix. The Mini Manix doesn't have the hook that goes behind the pinky in a standard saber grip.

I dont like the Para , not a compression lock fan , and the Ergos are very dissapointing after the millie . The Comp lock is a PITA to release .

And I feel the opposite. I really like the compression lock, and I find the Para's ergonomics to be stellar. Different strokes....

If you think the 710 is too large for carry, the full size Millie will also be too large. It is pretty light for its size, but it is as big as the 710.

Many Hogs, over on the Busse forum, carry Spyderco folders. That told me somethin!!

I think I am going to go with the military, I can get used to it and I would rather have it too big than too small. Thanks for the help.

UPDATE!
I got a Millie and was so happy with it that I ordered a Para Millie also.

I did the same as lycosa, started with the mil when I was working, now I'm a stay at home dad and somewhere in the mix I switched to p-mil. Very, very happy with it. The mil was good when there was an off hand chance it would be used in a sd capacity and I liked the extra length. Now my biggest concern is not freaking people out when I have to cut something at the playground.

I got my Para Millie today! I actually like this knife more than my Military (although I still like the green G-10 better). I didn't think it was possible to like another knife as much as my Military. Both will be my main edc, although the Para will get more pocket time. The Para isn't too small at all, it is pretty much the perfect size. The only things I would change would be to have the same size pivot pin as the Millie, the para's is a litte smaller (it is more than stong enough, but wouldn't hurt to be bigger). It needs a lowrider pocket clip, I might have to hit STR for one soon. The last thing I would change is the amount of tang that sticks out of the handle when closed, doesn't look as good as the military. I really like the compression lock, I didn't find anything wrong with the liner lock, but this is still an upgrade for me both because it is different and becuase it feel like it locks up a little tighter. I think Spyderco should make a new type of Military in green G-10 that has a 3.5in. blade and some aggressive texturing on the face of the compression lock. I would buy a few of those.

BTW: Both knives cut WAY better than most knives their size.

Here is a couple more pics for those still looking. Para is a great knife.

The P-Mil. replaced my HD-7. Will I ever be the same!! Cheers, to your Para- Military!
