Aha. Could you not run the edge closer to the handle and then not have to reach beyond the scales, or do you mean for tip and light chopping work out near the tip? Or is doing it that way just too odd, what with that 11" blade flopping around out there? I have a very similar blade in the shop now. 1/8" x 2" x 12.25".

More for tip work
First parang I have made so its kind of a prototype
May do a video on it this weekend
See ya

Kid Couteau. I like the shape of your parang a lot. I have one that I was given at the British Army's Jungle warfare School in Brunei, that I have used a lot. I was told by the British SAS soldier who gave it to me it was made from a lawn mower blade, but who knows? One thing is that, although a little hard to tell exact lengths in comparison, but my blade is 14-inches long, but the unsharpened portion of the blade is only about 2 1/2-inches long. When I choke up I keep the back part of my hand on the handle, so looks to me that you could cut your unsharpened
portion of the blade in half, and still be able to choke up for fine work. Will the parang be available for sale? Thanks. John
