Parang in use on YouTube

Mine too!

I love that sharpening stone the guy is using. Instant convex edge.

Those guys also know how to use their tools. Just a few swipes, a chop here, a notch there and they've got shelter. Amazing. Too bad bamboo like that doesn't grow in western New York.

Yeah, the parang is nice but the real hero here is Bamboo. Really amazing material.
Had the opportunity to toy with some in japan and it is really great: light and strong, almost like natural steel tubing. Almost instant water ducts. Very hard outside "wood". Flexible.

Really amazing stuff.

I really want something somilar to the Parang. I am thinking 3/16" thick convex edge about 13" Blade. Good old carbon steel. It looks like a very good tool to be in the woods with.

I must say it is one of my all time favorite vids as well.

Hey.... nice lookin blade.... very similar to the one I just made.... coooooooool.

I always thought that this tool was very Parang like.

What amazed me was how fast they were constructing the hut. You can see they've made them many times in the past.

Yeah, after watching that video, I really need to get a Bark River Golok before they stop making them.

Here’s a photo of the BRK&T Golok and that Parang looking prototype.

And Yes, that is a Panga handle.

That prototype is a development step toward the Bark River Golok; I believe it is a cut down Panga blade.

yes I believe Ray's is a martindale.
I much prefer the bark river prototype vs the new golok....too bad.
Rick, jesus man....your stuff keeps getting better. Still wishing I pulled the trigger on that miniparang awhile back when I could have afforded it.

I just used one of the Condor prototypes in the back yard yesterday. Oh. My. God. Is it nice. With the curve near the end it felt like I could be a bit more precise when limbing high up.
