Paranoid about cutting myself with Calypso?

Hi Folks,

I have another newbie question. I've been looking at the Calypso Jr. and the Delicas. I kinda like the micarta on the Calypso but I'm concerned about the finger cutout behind the blade edge (is this the 'choil'?). I'm afraid that unless I keep a death grip on the knive my finger will slip forward onto the edge (cut myself badly as a kid, guess I'm still skitish). Is my concern valid with cutouts like the one on the Calypso Jr. or am I just being overly paranoid/foolish?

You are wise to be cautious. The smooth Micarta is definitely slipery. The Calypso Jr., while it is one of my favorite knives, is not well suited for stabbing. This would be true even without the choil.
