Just got back from the movie theater where me and my wife went to see Paranormal Activity. We are quite the horror genre fans, but we both think that this was possibly the best horrof flick we've ever seen. Granted, scary movies are always better on the big screen, so this may change by the time it hits DVD. But I have to recomend this movie to anyone and everyone that enjoys a good scary movie.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Arpaio,
My wife and I did the same. I really thought it was a glorified You Tube. I thought the ending was terrible. I will admit that a couple of scenes were freaky, but do not share your same view. I think my opinion is not the norm, alot of people really like the movie. I guess it just was not my taste. I am sure it will be quite a money maker. If people liked Blair Witch, they probably would like Paranormal.

This really doesn't look like my cup of tea.
However, I am looking forward to seeing "Antichrist" with William Dafoe.
I hope that will be a good one.

It cost $15000 to make and made $33 million so far. Now we will be inundated with another round of cheaply made copy cats. Which is certainly a horror.

I thought Blair Witch was a scarier/better movie.

My fellow movie goers were obnoxious, lots of screaming and carrying on.

This movie is good, but it's way over hyped. And the ending left me disappointed, to say the least.

My advice... rent it when it comes out.

Haven't seen the movie but am skeptical at how good it may be.

How does it compare a first-time viewing of:
The Exorcist
Alien
Jaws

I liked PA. I think it was scary. Subtle, not gross/disgusting like all the post-Saw crap that's out there. Very well done, in my opinion. Went with about 6 people and we all had various levels of fright later that night, from freaking out when waking up in the middle of the night with a foot outside the covers, to not sleeping at all (two of the girls in our group). Good flick!

After this weekends real life scary events , last thing me and my girl need to see is this film... maybe in a few months :D

p.s........ looks pretty creepy though @!

I just posted this in the W&C version of this thread, but here goes:

I ended up seeing it twice, the first time was willingly, the second time was because my wife wanted to see it with all of our friends and didn't want to be left "alone." It is interesting if it is "real," and you believe in the bad juju type stuff, otherwise you will leave the theater pissed off that it ended before you got your monies worth :p

I actually thought there would be more to it, but it ended about 15 minutes before I thought it should have. And I agree, the theater was full of yapping teens who wouldn't put their phones down during the movie (bright white lights filled the theater from all the texting :grumpy: ).

I thought it was pretty good, although not as good as Blair Witch by any means but still solid - UNTIL that last 2 seconds. Cheap cop-out that brought it from cool and unusual to cheesy. Especially because the couple seconds before that were very interesting.

J, when I pay for a movie, and a texter annoys me with the lights, I ask them loudly to turn it off, if they do not, I get up and get an usher. I only had to get an usher once. My tolerance is slim for disrespectful people in a movie theater. I am sorry you had to see that 2x. My sympathies. The powdered 3 toed frog man feet were lame.

I think Fourth Kind looks down right creepy, also. That movie picked the wrong time to come out-- same time as this low-budget European phenomenon Paranormal Activity.

What's scarier than an unnatural and creepy owl peeking into your window moments before you are abducted by aliens-- and then finding out others have experienced the same creature moments before their abductions?
