This year's SICAC was good, I liked the new location and the quality of the knives. I met "old" friends Jens Anso and his wife, plus Achim Wirtz and Gert Van Den Elsen.
I had one order delivered at the show by Achim Wirtz, a falx sword that turned out very very good and is worth the wait. Didn't have money for anything else than the sword, if I had I would have spent it for sure, there were just a lot of cool blades. As usual, I made lots of pics but only a small part are good enough.

On Achim's table: a stainless wootz hunter and a selection of fixed blades including two Scagel-syle knives and one huge&stunning bowie.

Jens brought a bali that was sold before I got there, a few folders including one regular sized Amok (that's a folder) and an assortment of fixed blades ... the orange sheepsfoot ringed my bell but the wife would have used that falx on me if I bought another knife ;)

Burkovski, a guy from Israel that does amazing sculpting on the handles and blades. Top grade prices too.

A Hendrickson bowie, superb knife.

Two blades on Armes Bastille's table, can't remember the maker but they are extremly well made.

A bunch of small & cute forged things, note the old keys forged into knives ...

Friction folders by Ciachera, well made as usual. I have to get one of those some day ...

Exquisite work by Hank Knickmeyer, who is a very pleasant person too.

Scrimshaw by Gaetan Beauchamps, best scrimshaw on black I saw in the show.

Arwork by Takeda, very well made and priced accordingly.

Nice knife and engraving by Mick Penfold.

Yours truly and the falx :)
The falx was forged from 5160 by Achim and he put some really nice wallnut handle on it.

Beautiful obsidian work by Yannick Kepinski (lousy pic...)

Very good f&f on Andre Thorburn folders

Creamy mamooth, nice damascus and flawless knife by Al Dippold.

A couple of knives by Gert Van Den Elsen. Flawless execution and very confortable handles. First one really rings my bell and ended up ordering one like it but non-damascus.

Very well made knives by Claude Bouchonville (Belgium).

Roger

I checked out and it's Claude Bouchonville from Belgium (edited the post now)

Thanks Flava, great report. I love getting to knives from makers that I don't usually come across. Achim Wirtz is one of my favorite makers. His wootz is outstanding.

The dog looks like a Bullmastiff to me. All the Dog de Bordeaux that I have seen are light brown to red and they have a huge head and very distinctive face.

Joss, Reverdy was there but I didn't see Viallon.
Anthony & Keith, that dog is Zed, our little Bullmastiff. He's 14 month old. A photo from 2 months ago:

nice pics !
i was there also, and it remind me the good time i had last saturday !

FYI
The old keys with damas are made by PHM (pierre Henri Monnet) that is sometime on the "european Forum". I baught one and it's nice piece of work and usefull as "letter-opener" (but other use it as SD tool  ).

I realised now that i have probably seen you manipulating your Falx on Achim desk; (When you see someone having such a weapon in hand, and you are close to him, you prey that he is not a creazy lunatic... :D )

I bought a little stainless damascus necker from Monnet too (the one on top of the visit card, with thin cord wrapping. I got it for my wife and she loves it :)
I live less than 10km from Sceaux (Juvisy) and practice kendo in Fresnes, so you better belive I'm no lunatic. How would you feel having a crazy falx armed bastid nearby? :D :D
