Anyone know anything about parker knives i have one its small and says bobcat on the blade and made in japan are they rare and collectible

They aren't made any longer to my knowledge. If it's the Parker blades I am familiar with they made a lot of them during the 70's and 80's. Decent knives for the money, I think a lot of them were less then $20 new. There are people that collect them I know, but not to sure on a current dollar value. Is this knife a fixed blade or folder?

Parker had traditional style knives made in Japan during the 70's/80's if I remember correctly.

From what I have heard, the Japanese made Parker knives were of decent fit and finish. I know a couple of fellas who have them and they are not unhappy with the quality.

Whether they are "collectable" or not is a matter of personal opinion.

Here is a comment from a thread in the Bernard Levine Forum about Jim Parker. It tells you the root reason for the existence of the Parker Japanese knives. I would recommend reading the thread in its entirety to get the entire context.

Try reading my detailed post #9.

He began Parker Cutlery so he would have shiny new knives to trade for valuable old ones. It grew beyond his wildest expectations, and now people collect Parker knives, just like other knives.

They are generic private brand knives made for him in Japan -- but that puts them a notch or two in quality above the current generic private brand knives made in China.
