I've come across a few Parker Eagle knives for what seems like a good price. I don't know anything about this brand as I'm pretty new to collecting knives. The knives are new but are 1980 vintage. Thanks for any help.

Assuming they're of Japanese manufacture (maybe Seki City), as are the ones I have, I'd say they're not too bad. I've never (almost) been disappointed with quality in Japanese-made knives, in terms of fit/finish, usability or durability. I've always felt they've made the most of whatever steel is used, in particular; often AUS-6/AUS-8 or similar. It was a Japanese-made Parker/Eagle Brand blade, bought in the early '90s, that gave me my first real painful bite, and made me bleed like a stuck pig. I well-remember how 'impressed' I was at the acute & toothy sharpness on that one; a very well-executed edge grind. ;)

I'll echo what David stated above. The 80's Japanese made knives are usually pretty good quality. The ones I have take a nice edge and hold it fairly well. You can get some decent knives for the money on the used market.

Saw quite a few at a show on Saturday. They were the cheap knives of the day, but compared to today's "cheap knives' they aren't bad. I believe most are 440A but made in Japan.
