Parkerizing?

Anyone ever have a knife parkerized or have a knife with a parkerized finish? I don't know if this is a thick coating, which I don't really like, or a color to the metal. thanks,

I have a Camillus USMC knife with parkerized finish, and it is not very thick. My son has an Ontario USMC with a much thicker parkerized finish. It all depends on who does the coating and how they do it. My Springfield M1911 has a really good parkerized finish that is not thick at all but works very well.

Brownels (the gun supply company) offers various kits for different colors of parkerizing. It can be a do-it youself job.

Thickness and color vary. Durability increases with thickness.
