I just got my partially serrated Junkyard dog. I'll give my thoughts about it after I used it some.
I was not impressed with the sharpness of it out of the box so I thought I would touch it up on my Sharpmaker. I was able to get my Needs Work very sharp.
The angles on the plain edge appear to be different.
The edge side with the deepest serrations (left as you are holding it) has a normal looking grind with visiable edge - some shoulder to it - some metal was taken off to get to the edge. Note that even on this side the amount of edge showing (shoulder?) varies with the larger part near the point and less showing near the serrations.
The right side has noticiably less of a shoulder to the edge. It looks as if it has a single bevel edge (wording from Sharpmaker booklet).
Do the sides have different sharpening angles?
Also, using the black marker trick it does not appear I am getting to the edge on the right side with the 40 degree Sharpmaker.
There weren't any sharpening instructions in the box.
