Parts replaced after 30+ years?

Kinda curious, saw a claim that a Buck 301 from the 70's was recently sent in to Buck for service, and that Buck "replaced the blades with original parts"........

Possible after this many years???
 
Yes, it is possible.
Especially after the recent warranty/repair department remodel. (See the Stickie for details.)
 
Definitely don't have any of the old Camillus blades left that were referenced in the post.

Thanks, I would have been stunned if you had replacement blades from knives you never made in house, after this long.
 
JD I think you may be referring to my post. In it I said that the blade was replaced many years ago. I like you would not think these blades would be available at this time. This is what I wrote.
I sent in a Camillus made 301 many years ago and they put a Camillus blade back on it.
 
I was told that in past, customers with old 300s in good shape (like new), say with a broken spring, were offered brand new knives to replace theirs. If they agreed then the old knife was kept for parts , if they were new looking, for those folks that wanted original parts on their actual knife. May just have been a tale, but it makes sense and saves money. 300

Don't think I saw yours then, The one I saw says "last year I sent a 70s 301 and they replaced everything with original parts. New blades, badge, polished bolsters, etc.".
 
JD my apologies to you for jumping to conclusions.

300 Yes I should have bought a lottery ticket then. I did explain that the knife did have sentimental value as it was a gift from a friend. Buck went way above what I could of expected. I have also heard the story of Buck cannibalizing returned knives many years back.
