I am looking at purchasing this knife for an all-around wilderness knife. When I say "all-around" I mean it won't be dedicated to just bushcraft and/or survival but camp tasks. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with this knife and could list the pros and cons.

Possibly the most functional TOPS design for a woodsman, besides the Indio. Wish they made the Pasayten with a 4-inch blade.

I haven't seen that one yet. I'm impressed with the design though-if you do get it, a review would be much appreciated!

Are you going to have a chopper or is this the only cutting tool you're thinking about taking?

I only ask because my preference for something I was going to baton a lot with for firewood is carbon steel. And, for that thickness I would also opt for a differential heat treat. If batoning is off the list except for emergencies, I say it's a pretty awesome choice.

This will supplement an axe for chopping.

You should be fine. I had one and used it as a general purpose knife supplemented with a hatchet. I did baton it lightly through smaller pieces of wood without problems. It held a great edge. I got tired of it eventually and sold it off. Overall, it was one of the most comfortable knives I've ever owned. My friend has one and he used it to hack through some smaller branches (finger thick) and that created some very minor micro chips. I never had that problem with mine.

I have one and its a good all around choice. TOPs does differentually HT there 1095, not sure on this one tho in 154cm. Great at food prep also

I have been looking at the Light Traveler for some time. It looks like it would be a great camp knife and a good companion tool for the TOPS BTK that I have.

One of the few TOPS designs I really like. There're also orange handled G-10's. If I recall correctly, its design input was from the editor of Tactical Knives who, besides being a retired soldier, is a longtime outdoorsman and arborist.

A simple and prover design. It looks very much like the kitchen/utility workhorse we had when I was growing-up.
