I got Mulder's FAT Badger today and only had a limited time working with it...mainly a photo op today....but I am off tomorrow and going to give this beast a workout!....First thing that I noticed was the weight...this puppy comes in at 13oz and the normal thickness one is 10.8oz, they are .290 and .234 in thickness.

Well here are some day 1 pictures....don't worry, the STUMP is BACK:D

A little chopping.....I can see that no one has sharpened the Fatty yet?! The narrow one came out on top today....about 30 chops each.

What causes the dimples...the Fatty is smooth as silk and the slotted fastener looks like a big girl's thighs?!

Yeah, she was starting to dull a little. I thought about sharpening it, but it would have been on my EdgePro. I wasn't sure I should take off the convex edge (I think that's what was on it).

Dimples = INFI. Smooth = A2. (In this case).

Infi doesn't mean dimples....please someone some HOG wise in the way of Busse chime in here....all I know is that I don't know Jack!

Dave.....you mind if I sharpen this thing?!

Sweet pics!!!

I like them both really... but I do prefer the fatties! :D

I can't believe it hasn't been sharpened yet... I thought it could use a touch up when it left my hot lil' hooves. :p

What do you mean CAN'T FIND ONE!!! You've found around a DOZEN :p that would be like Cobalt saying he couldn't find a SHBM :D all you have to do is look around the house a little and you might find one you forgot about

Jason....where you you keep on finding all these FUGLY SH's....they're awesome! The new FGTHBA (fat girl thigh handled badger attack) is great!

Great pics!!!

I can't believe Mulder let that one out of his hands this long. He must have the DT's:p :D

In this case INFI DO mean dimples simply look at the plunge grind on the slotted.

Just about all of the smooth bolts are A2, but I have seen some (my EDC), with A2 grind lines but with dimples. Others, smooth as a baby's butt. Go figure! It's a fatty also.

My other EDC is just like your slotted, heavy dimples and the INFI grind line.

For a while, you could order the SHBA's in either A2 or INFI, further adding to the confusion, and on top of that, slotted or smooth bolts seemed to be whatever the grinder picked up.

I have seen (owned), both smooth bolt INFI and slotted bolt A2. Had about 10 or 12 over the years, but decided to share the love.

The 2 that I kept and carry are just like the ones in the photos, but my fatty has dimples also. Not as heavy as the INFI one however.

Thanks for the pics Jason!

Go whack the stump and post a few more.

Do you think the thinner blade is why it did better on the 30 chops? Or the fact it was sharper than the fatty? I would think both

I plan to test that out......the edge on the Fatty is pretty thin, but the standard badger is a bit thinner till the tip.....it is a bit thicker there. But the weight of the fatty should have balanced that out...so I am leaning toward the dull edge....I am going to pass it on a stone a few times and retry....Pictures tto follow.
