Passaround Ideas

Living over here on the west coast, So. Cal. to be more specific, and limited to travel due to work and family, I am not able to go to most (well so far all) of the shows that Busse and family has their knives at.:(

Thus I always have to order a knife to even get to handle it. Then I keep what I like and through the rest back into the trough. This has worked quite well for me.

But I was thinking that it would be nice if we could get a list together of Busse knives people here would "like" to see in a passaround. Then perhaps someone who has one of the desired knives and were interested could start up their own "Passaround" thread. A few kind Hogs/Piglets have let me try out their INFI and it has really been an eye opener. Just a thought. I could update the first post of this thread (this post) to make a list and update it as needed. Any thoughts?

Passaround (a + indicates # of people interested in it).

I'd like to try out a Pork Belly Skinner and a Hell Razor. Also, most definitely a yes on the SFNO. :D Silent Knight? Ummm, ok, you bet... Now who's crazy enough to pass one of THOSE around??!!!

I know... But it was a request. Doesn't hurt to ask but we should probably stick to more realistic choices. :)

I think it's a good idea Tyrkon. Since this sub-forum has a nice group of tight-knit regulars, it makes it a lot easier to send something out and not worry too much about it, especially the more rare/high-end knives.

Now, think I can get the Dragons Fang on a passaround? :p

I am not on the same page as you guys.

I am trying to spread the word to others.

Right now I am not in the market for any fancy knives. So I have nothing to add to this discussion.

But I will probably want to check out whatever you guys come up with for a passaround. So please don't get anything so darn expensive that the insurance costs as much a as a descent Spyderco knife.

Thanks
Nate

Like you I usually have to buy the knife and handle it and then I usually sell or trade most of them. It would be much easier to try something I'm interested in in a passaround and then when I hunt it down, I'd know it'd be a keeper. The one's I'd be most interested in are:

SFNO
Ruck
AK
SE FBM
FBM with G10 mags

I have several users right now that I'd throw in the mix and a couple of minty ones I'd consider making users.

Let's get this going.

Keep them coming guys. I figure in a couple of weeks we should have a few "realistic" possibilities that may just happen.

I've got some users I would throw in the mix. I would hate to do a safe queen after what happened to Mulder's, though things couldn't have turned out better after Jerry's gracious offer.

Another thought: To save on shipping (but not insurance) it might be worthwhile for the passaround to include two or three blades at once. Those flat rate USPS boxes are a pretty good deal for steel. ;)

There are a couple of posters who, though I have forgotten the name, are edge sharpening fools. It would be nice for them to have the last round in the rotation to send 'em back all "sharpy." Maybe a run past Lunde too - awesome pics are guaranteed!!

Suddenly, I'm all ready to volunteer some stuff!!

(Tyrkon - You just got an Edge Pro, right? I'm assembling a care package now! :) )

I'd be down to see a SFNO.

There are a few of us here that have edge-pros/multiple methods of sharpening. I'm going to let people who feel comfortable with it, sharpen or strop the XM in my passaround if it needs it. My only stipulation will be to not change the edge angle. I'll thin it out myself at some point. ;) I would think this would be up to the individual that owns the passaround knife.

Tyrkon,

I think it's a great idea.

Here is a list of the ones I think might be good passarounds.
I might be willing to do another SHBA (thin INFI) passaround if there is still interest.

1) SHSH
2) SHBM
3) FBM Proto
4) BBSHSH
5) SHBA
6) BA3 or ABA
7) NO-E
8) BA-E
9) SH-E
10) BM-E

SFNO ++
Silent Kight
SE (Any)
Pork Bell Skinner
Hell Raiser
Dragons Fang +
Ruch
AK
SE FBM
FBM w/ G10 Mags

I would be interested in all but the FBM and the SFNO, cuz I have em. I really would like to get ahold of a PBS and a Hell Raiser.

Nothing too exciting here, but I would consider doing a care package / passaround of a box full of users.

Heavy Heart FSH w mags
Mole Jack, stripped to satin
Game Warden w g10
Scrapper 4
Custom Shop Dog Skinner
1st gen Howling Rat
Black/Tan Battle Rat
Mischief 6

I would like to send 'em all out in a big Flat Rate box. Insurance might be a bit more than the actual shipping but it would be a collection of users for others to try. Nothing official yet but gauging some interest.

Tony G had sent me several knives to check out. When I returned them, I used a Flat Rate box, insured for $1500. The clerk at the PO suggested I send it registered, as the most secure method; cost $22. I added delivery confirmation, just so I could track it. That turned out to be a waste, as even weeks after Tony got his knives back, the USPS web site still showed the package only as attempted delivery/notice left. Go figure.

I'd appreciate being able to handle a Game Warden, Active Duty, and maybe a non-tactical Badger of some sort.

OH and I want to handle something with an E handle, pretty much anything as I have never gotten too.

Not sure if there is any interest but I wouldn't mind trying a Basic 9.
So how about adding all the basics to the list.

1) B3
2) B5
3) B7
4) B9
