Hi folks -

arskrg (Adam) generously organized a passaround with three knives, a large Sebenza 21 , a Becker BK-2 and finally a Kershaw Blur from bobsig -

Today I received the first knife, the Sebenza, and took a few pictures of the unveiling -

Thanks to Adam for the great passaround, this is my first time to handle a large Sebenza - I look forward to carrying it for the next week or so.

best regards -

Sweet pics Andy! i can't wait to try out the sebenza. always wanted to, but i could never quite justify the cost. this will let me try before i buy. a very gracious gesture from adam.

P.S. Not trying to get off topic here, but how do you like that Old #7? i've never tried that one. in fact, i can't recall ever even seeing it. i like a good bourbon.

Hi Todd -

That is an early 80's Maxwell House Decanter - it has modern Black Label 80 proof in it - it would have had 90 proof in it originally.

I collect full, sealed JD decanters, but I like the Maxwell so much, I use this one for pouring my drinks.

Here is a picture of some of my collection and myself -

Party at Andy's!!!!

I think that's one of the best things I've ever seen, oh and the knives look good to :)

Update - The Blur and the Becker were delivered yesterday.

I have a CCW prep course Saturday, so I will get to play with them all day Sunday and take some pictures etc.

I have been carrying the Sebenza, and man - I can see why people love these knives~!

I do like the larger version much better than my smaller version - I may make a play to turn my small 21 into a large 21 someday.

The Sebenza is uber smooth, and it slices very nicely. I also really like the shape and grind of the blade.

More to come later.

I have not been able to get to use the fine knives from the passaround, excepting that I have been honored to be able to carry the CRK for the two weeks, and I have used it for opening packages and light cutting. I really like the quality and polish of the CRK; I can see why they garner such high accolades.

I did take time this evening to take some pictures of the passaround knives. I am still trying to figure out how to take pictures with my new countertops - but some of these came out interesting.

My time with these fine knives has come to an end.

Thank you Adam for the opportunity to carry and use your Sebenza for over two weeks, and for the chance to play with a Becker full-sized knife for the first time outside of the Blade show. Thanks also to Bobsig for throwing his well-loved Kershaw Blur into the passaround, all for a great cause; to raise funds for Hanna's medical expenses!

The BK-2 is a much larger and beefier knife than I was expecting.

The knife is thick and heavy, close your eyes and you will think you have a Busse in your hand

Io comes with a quality made sheath that holds the knife securely.

This knife has has the coating stripped, and the result is a finish with a well-worn character.

The Blur in the passaround is a combo-edged version. It came with a nice polished edge. I forgot how light the Blur is - with aluminum handle it is a great everyday knife. The Blur has the Kershaw Speedsafe feature, and it is a great choice for the person wanting a quality knife that is very capable but not expensive.

Here is one last shot - a group shot with Adam's Sebenza.

Thanks again for the chance to be in this passaround for Hanna - and my donation will go out later today, as will the package to voracious1.

best regards -
