anyone interested in doing a passaround? seen these going on in general discussion and havent seen one here or sw forums.

got a scrapper 6 that hasnt really gotten much interest on the trade forum. i would be interested to see what others would do with it/to it. it is unused and likely will remain so since i have some big busses and rats inbound.

thoughts? if enough interest we could come up with some rules.

It could be pretty sweet, I know the only 2 busses ive ever handled were the ones I bought so it would be nice to see what else is out there. At the same time it might just cause me to buy more!

well, if we could stir up some interest, i would start it off with my scrapyard.

so if anyone else is interested post here.

I don't know...this may cause me to buy more knives I never would have had interest in!!!! Oh the trouble on the homefront this could cause!! But I like the idea!

basically here is what i was thinking:

i have a new scrapper 6 w/ sheath.

a list would be compiled of those interested in trying it out.

the knife would be sent from user to user (no $$$ needed) each responsible for shipping charges. keep it 2-3 weeks, use it, send it on.

keep it going as long as there is interest or the knife is too beat up.

at some point i would like it back, presumably when the pass is over.

Excellent idea! I would love to see some passarounds with lottos too. If you want to sell a blade, but are not in a hurry, you could set a # of buy-ins and set the amount according to what you would want to sell for. You get paid and the rest of us get to try a blade and possibly win it for a fraction of the cost.

.

I could have sworn that this thread was about a Scrapyard Knife, a member of the Busse family. "to beat up" you must be refering to another brand. The coating may come off or someone may manage to scratch it but "to beat up" you done fell outa yo tree, bro.

Wives across the country will be ordering vodoo dolls in your image after everyone decides that they "need" another knife.

Thanks

That could be a lenghty and expensive buy in. The price of Busse vs the number of folks who would pay to use ...even for a chance...belive me I am not against it, I just think it would be difficult with this caliber of blade.

ok ok. beat up like someone was cutting cinder blocks and soup cans or hammered it into a tree, stood on it, and it broke. stuff like that. :grumpy:

but truthfully i imagine it could last quite a while. as long as use was responsible and no one did anything intentionally that would likely cause catastrophic failure.:D

ok so far:

bullit, nate, mob, and gravel are interested.

thought more people would want what amounts to a free knife for a while to beat up.

If you had a knife that you wanted $500.00 and say you were willing to wait around 3 months. You could set the buy-in at $50.00 each, and the first 10 to buy-in are in (subject to the usual passaround rules and reputation). Vary this accordingly and it could work out to a good experience, as long as everyone is honest and not whiny about the odds.

that sounds like fun too. but who would keep the knife at the end?

Give it some time, you started this about 3.5 hours ago. Plus, you are dealing with 2 kinds of thinking here. New ideas can help with new experiences and New ideas are a lot of work, a gamble and may cause me to spend my INFI money on a pesky divorce.:D

The winner. Maybe as a person buys in, they pick a # based on seller/hosts local lottery. Host can state the date and lotto system to be used and then it's a level playing field.

I think they would have "bought" the knife, the agreement before it goes out would have to include something along the lines of paying for intentional abuse. At that point the knife would be replaced at said abusers expense and the passaround would continue, in a perfect world.

there would be alot of trust involved here. initially i would only like to see the knife sent to names i have seen here frequently enough. there would be some discretion on my part, since its my knife, and the sender as to who would get it next.

if the blade was damaged beyond repair, we could send it back to scrapyard. i imagine it would make frequent stops there anyway for sharpening.
