Just wanted to start getting some info in and out of ya'll about the next passaround. I got Uncle Weirdbeard collecting us a BK4, which will be our next passaround.
It will be new, factory fresh, upon arrival here to my house. Once its here, I will inspect it, pic it, and post it. Then pack it up, and send it off to the first on the list.
And for the list, we will limit this to 10 people. I know it sucks, but that will put us just a little short of 20 weeks out for the entire passaround.
Each person will get the BK4 for 7 days. That's 7 days from arrival to departure. Anything longer than that, will constitute failure of your portion of the passaround, and you will not be able to take part in future passarounds. And lose any BH status you might have attained. Just how it is.
A post with pictures will be required of the time spent with the Machax, in an individual post. I'm not going have you guys gang up on a single thread that will most certainly drift, so, each person does their own review and post for the passaround.
The only mods or alterations that you will be allowed to do, is sharpen it. Now, by sharpen it, I don't mean you get to convex it, or reprofile it, I mean bring it back to sharp. I want this thing to be as close to factory as we can get, though by the time #10 gets it, it won't be, I know that, but NO MODS!!!!! Just sharpen it. If you can't or don't want to, thats fine, just make note to the person whom will be next.
You will be required to submit and verify an address, phone number, and alternate number for your part of the participation. Which means, once you are selected, you WILL email me your address, phone number, and an alternate number. I will then verify your contact info, and you will be provided the persons contact info ahead of you and after you.
Shipping will be USPS, insured, and Delivery Conf. If you cannot, or don't want to pay, then please don't sign up for selection.
No jumping or skipping the rotation. If something happens, and you can't participate, then I will select from a list of alternates that will fill in your slot, and you lose your chance at the passaround. Just how it is.
Not sure if this will be going out of the US or not, I would like it to, since Canada in winter is a good arena to test, so, I'll let ya'll know when we ask for signups.
Breakage. Sometimes shit happens, and I understand that. We want this knife tested and tried, but not broken. Treat it like a loner from a good friend who you don't want to piss off. If it breaks, well, then its over. It will be difficult enough to get one, so, lets steer clear of the frozen fir trees.
Use and abuse- Ethan will decide what we will be looking for in the use area. What its made to do, and what is supposed to do. Toooj will be looking for abuse. Toooj knows abuse and can spot it a mile away, I assure you. I've tested his abilities and trust me, they are far more than adequate for the task. No vices, no ballpeen batons, just treat it like a tough woods knife. More details will follow on this one.
I would like to see a good, well written review, not, "I used it, it works" That pisses me off to no end. I like to hear about the knife, and what YOU thought about it. If you don't like it, then say so. If you think it sucks, say so. Just tell me why. Same thing goes for the likes and loves. "I love it. It works." is just as bad. So, elaborate some. If that's not your style, cool with me, just don't sign up for the selection is all.
Once we start, we are balls out. I would like to have this knife back to Kabar before the end of December, for full evaluation prior to the release date. We don't have much time to suss that out, so, once we go, we go.
If you will have an issue with getting your review done, run outta time, get busy, I understand. You will need to send the knife on, then. And make sure you have someone that can send it for you, should something happen and you can't get it out.

That was a private passaround that I did with my steel, so, I made the rules and I'm pretty laid back about stuff like that. This will be a sanctioned evaluation, designed to create scientific data, and review information on a product that hasn't released yet, and therefore has a more rigid structure to it. Please don't mistake that. We are gonna be beta testing this knife, and Toooj gets it when its over, so he can see how it did, and see what changes, if any, need to be made. I don't think ya'll will find this blade lacking in much, except availability.
So, in closing of this wall of text, this hasn't started, and THIS IS NOT A SIGNUP!!!, I'm just laying some ground work, so ya'll will get an idea of what we are getting into, and whats expected. Some of this will change, and ya'll do get to put some feedback into it, so feel free to post up suggestions, ideas, comments, and whatnot.
I want this to be fun, exciting, and informative, whatever we can do to make that happen, we will.
