Passed Forging and Performance Test

Hello all,

Just letting y'all to know I passed my Journeyman forging and performance test. My gal and I went to Boone to go to Daniel Winkler's shop.... He is a great guy that spent time with me talking about what to prepare for in the judging, shop tour, let me forge two knives in his shop, and performed the cutting test. He also let my gal and her child to take a nap on the couch in his office.... All I gotta say is I had the best experience. I was just as excited in visiting his shop as me testing. Here are some pics....

Congrats Daniel :thumbup: I'll bet you feel like a million bucks right now. Those are some great pictures too.
 
Congratulations on excellent work! That's gotta be a great feeling! Kick back, have a beer, and enjoy looking at that bent blade.

P.S. Is that a Phoenix forging hammer in the fifth pic down? The anvil looks like a 150B. How was it? Inquiring minds want to know!
 
Mr. Prentice, I salute you. I hope to one day attain a similar level of skill.

I offer my salute to Mr. Winkler as well; I don't know him or his work but clearly he enjoys helping up-and-coming makers. I gotta say, I'm continually impressed by how much info and help is shown to "new guys"* by other, more-established smiths and makers. I consider that a high testament to the character of these gentlemen, and their devotion to the art and craft. The level of support and peer-review/constructive criticism I've seen among the blade-making community is second to none.

*DP, I know you're not a "new guy", I respect your skills, talent and character very much. Keep at it, you (and others like you) inspire true newbies like me, VERY much. Congratulations!!
 
Thank you all ...............i am so happy and excited about my accomplishment....now to the blade show in atlanta in june......

Glad to hear you passed the Journeyman Forging Test. And I like the photo's also. Outstanding Job. A+---------:thumbup:
 
A great accomplishment. One I aspire to achieve one day. Congrats! and.....good luck in Atlanta! Try not to be too overwhelmed in Atlanta, and enjoy the experience. I've been to the Atlanta show and it is a fabulous experience!
 
I hope that I have the blades ready for atlanta....... and a booth...... thanks for sharing with me and kadance.......
