So yeah, we had a guy (prospective future assistant manager) fill in with us the last 3 days.
now like the majority of the guys that work in the warehouse he carries a utility knife/box cutter but he seemed to admire my pocket knives. So much that when i came back from lunch yesterday I brought a few to show off. He seemed impressed and commented that he needed to get him a real knife.

So this morning i thought about it and picked out something I thought he would like. I figure so many of you guys are so nice and send off knives (i've had more than a couple sent to me from folks around these parts) and so i decided I would "pay it forward)

So i picked out my TL-29. Its a great carbon steel Klein model.
needless to say he was very happy and i think it touched him

luckily i brought it today, he was supposed to be with us till friday, but we found out today he is leaving tonight and working with a different store the rest of the week. So i am glad i brought it today.

anyways, here it is
(and thanks again to BRL who sent it to me in the first place to see if i liked the pattern)

Definitely cool! That's the way it's done. Bravo Zulu!

Good for you!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I've given knives away, and like Peter, never had a single moments regret. Especially when I know they went to an owner who will use it and appreciate it. Great feeling to spread it around.

Carl.

Very nice! Nice job.
I recently gave a knife to a friend, a Queen City small trapper in red wormgroove bone. He's not a "knife guy," but I was surprised by his reaction: "What a great little pocket knife! Now I have to give you a coin! Hang on..." :D

There's no gift quite like a traditional knife IMO. You have good taste as far as I'm concerned a TL-29 is a great pattern for actually using. I like the idea of gifting knives that are intended to be used as tool rather than ornate collectables.

did your TL-29 have the shield. i have a very old example but the shield was missing when i received it.:grumpy:
pretty decent knife to gift to a fellow worker. solid

yeah that was the intent. Something that he would actually use. Explained that it was carbon steel and not stainless and showed him the half-stop just so he didnt have any nasty surprises. I had gotten it fairly sharp, not hair shaving but working sharp. He did seem extremely pleased and that made me happy :D

I got it used so I cannot speak for its original condition, but no shield and no obvious place where a shield should have been and if it was missing i couldnt tell

That's what it's all about:thumbup:
Nice to see things like this, Passing it on...
That's the good stuff!

Good on you!, I have given knives away as well, and it just does something to you... because if you choose the recipient carefully, you will begin a new fascination for that lucky person, and THATS a cool feeling to give to that person, knowing theres a lot more to that gift than just a knife!

I have about four of them, none with shields, none looking like a shield is missing. Keeping an eye out for one with a shield.

Great story Rsmith. I love reading these threads. Gives me the bug to pass another one on

I am sure he will get a lot of use out of it, might even of made a new knife nut :) I share sitflyers sentiments...."Thats's the good stuff!"

A good deed indeed! I didn't know that Klein made TL-29s, but I guess they should, being an electrical tools company.

Cheers,
Connor

You took the words directly from my brain into the internet, Duncan.

Cool gesture. I´m sure, he´ll enjoy it.

Kind regards

I have two TL-29s, and I'm actually carrying one of them today. I love carrying them at work because I feel like they are made to be used hard. Thick blades, heavy springs, and the awesome screwdriver. I need to keep my eye out for one of these shielded ones you all are talking about. That and ebony. Still trying to figure out why everyone likes ebony.

I hope the guy uses the heck out of it. It takes use and occasionally abuse well.
