Three months ago I am proud to say I became a new father and am happy to have a healthy baby boy. Now I am so excited about the prospect of giving him his first Swiss Army, onto Leatherman tools, folders and fixed blades. Even further on down the road passing on my own cherished knives that I have carried in my own ventures. Does anyone out there have good stories about having knives passed onto them, or passing them on?

I bought my son a couple of beginner-level knives as soon as he was born. An Opinel and a youth Mora with guard. And Santa seems to slip a new Case or something into his stocking every year. Now he has a small box just for his pocketknife "Collection."

Of course, even after four years, he still doesn't get to use them. :)

Don't overlook the plastic Swiss Army Knife made for small children. Made by a toy company, but officially licensed by Victorinox. About $5 as I recall. Very cool with a magnifying glass, knife blade, and spoon.

Congratulations

My son is also 3 months :)

He was born in late August and was stuck with my name, but now he is the Fifth (V)....his nickname is Cinco :D

I recently had a schrade presto switchblade passed onto to my from my father. It was my great grandfathers. Pretty cool piece.

Congratulations to you new dads! Both of my sons both have actually asked me which of my knives they'll get when I die. Couple of natural-born nutters.

Gonna have to watch my back.....
