Anyone know anything about this Pat Crawford knife?

No sheath for it. I bought as is. The guy I bought it from said his dad bought it from Pat Crawford. The original owner used it on his keychain. I bought these three knives today. The top is a Blind Horse Knife, the 2nd is a Fecas.

Mr. Crawford advised me this is a early (1980's) keychain knife. It originally retailed for $50, it came with a leather sheath.

Brules, no offense, but if you have access to the maker (Mr. Crawford), why did you ask the forum if we knew anything about the knife?

Pat called that model the Key Chain Cutter. He later made another model by the same name that was a friction folder that he had manufactured for him by a company in Japan.

The old style that you have was made as early as 1986, possibly before, and came with a leather sheath. In 1986 they were $35. The text from his catalog said:

"KEY CHAIN CUTTER
Light and small, it is designed to be carried on your key chain. These make great gifts for your wife, because this may be the only protection she has on her at all times. Hand made from 440C stainless steel, the KEY CUTTER is a fist full of protection that is always at your fingertips for everyday cutting jobs or emergencies that you never expect. Custom quality with a hand-sewn leather sheath for only $35.00"

Here is how they look with the sheath.

that odd key-shaped thumb-grip handle kindsa growns on you after a while, don't it?
a rather clever deceptive design but for it's give-away triangular blade sheath.

Thanks for the info IamMatt. I'm pretty sure I have one of the Japan made friction folders (I'll have to check). I've been collecting knives for many years, but never seen the Key Chain Cutter before this one.

He had an initial run of the friction-style Key Chain Cutters made in Japan (I think in the 80's, then stopped. I bought a couple when they were out of production. Then a few years ago he had antother batch made, though I don't recall if he used the same manufacturer. They pop up on eBay and other sites from time to time, and I think they are popular in England or maybe the EU because of a prohibition of locking knives.

Thanks Matt, I believe I have one of the Crawford folders that were made in Japan. I've only seen one of the Japanese folders.
