Pat Morita died!

:(
I am also sorry to see that he has passed. I just saw him in a few Kung Fu episodes (I bought the series), and his acting really stands out.

RIP Mr. Miyagi. :(

I honestly think I learned more lasting truth about the spirit of martial arts from his portrayal of Mr. Miyagi than I did from any instructor I ever had.

My favorite part of all 4 movies has to be when he told Daniel that the reason to learn Karate, was not to fight, but so you don't have to fight.

R.I.P....Pat!

I remember reading an interview with him some years ago.

Early in his career, he was a stand up comedian. His agent booked him to perform at a reunion of Pear Harbor survivors. He walked out onto the stage and started off by saying "Man, I am so sorry about that whole harbor thing." The place grew silent, them broke apart in laughter. Talk about a sink or swim scenario.

I consider that poetic justice considering the fact that he spent part of his childhood in an internment camp.

I hope heaven treats you well friend ... like all, you influenced many of us when it came to martial arts.

I think he would have been touched to hear something like that. If you see a cloud this summer that looks like a bonsai tree, you'll know that he's earning his keep.
.
R.I.P. Mr. Miyagi.

Pat Morita will forever hold a dear place in my memory as Mr. Miyagi. "Karate here.... (pointing to my heart)."
