Patagonia to Alaska hike

Several years ago I remember a piece in the news of a man who walked/hiked from Patagonia to Alaska. It took him several years. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with this, and was there ever a film or book made of this.

Is this the same story? The fellow I was talking about hiked from the southern tip of South America To Alaska. I believe it took him some six or seven years to do this. Also, if I remember right, he completed this trek when I watched the news segment. I always thought that this was one hell of a story.

Suspect it is, unless someone else was walking from S.America. Either way it is quite a story.
