I was looking at Dave Canterbarys Pathfinder school store tonight and saw 2 ESEE products, but no mention ESEE at all. They look to carry the ESEE Firekit and the Lite Machete. They simply sell them as "Pathfinder Firekit" and "pathfinder machete". Shouldnt the website atleast mention that they are ESEE products? Links below

I think this came up not too long ago. IIRC, per Dave's contract with Discovery, he's not permitted to sell items on his site that don't have his logo. He's friends with the folks at ESEE, so they did a run of machetes and firekits with his logo.

I did a quick search but couldn't find the thread, so I hope I didn't misspeak there.

Edit: No need to keep looking. I was beaten by a minute. :p

Quote from that thread:

Because of his deal with the Discovery channel, Dave can't sell any gear that doesn't have his logo on it. (No idea why).

So he worked it out with Jeff to have his logo engraved onto some of our stuff.

It's his own direct private label. No stolen anything. Dave is a friend of mine and Jeff and Mike's.

ESEE also mentions private labeling & commemorative issue opportunities on their website.

"Since our "all USA made" decision, we have partnered with Rowen Manufacturing to produce part of our new knife line. All Rowen manufactured knives are MADE IN THE USA. With this partnership, ESEE Knives now has the ability to do OEM work for other companies, as well as small-lot special runs and private label projects. We can also provide OEM sheaths and components for the knife industry. So, if you're looking for someone to do small production runs of your knives or components, then contact us, even if you don't buy our knives. "

I will sell any of you my "Pathfinder" Machete for $98. That's a savings of $1! Don't mind the modified logo.

alright, guess I should have done a search first, but I didnt. Forgive me for my ignorance.

Now you know... and knowing is half the battle!
