After a wait of almost 18 months, the Skookum Bush Tool I ordered in Feb 08 has arrived. It really is an amazing knife in regard to fit, finish, and feel. The pics are below - basic specs are A2 steel, red micarta handles, and the "pummel plate."

Stand by for a celebratory giveaway in another thread.

Regards,
R

Ah, gorgeous!! Congrats amigo! That's a really handsome bush blade, and it was a real pleasure when I got to use a borrowed one. I've got one on order myself, that I'm hoping to receive around my graduation time.

Anyway, it's always nice to get presents in the mail!!

Congrats on the blade, and I applaud your patience for waiting a year and a half. I would have been quite ansy by that time

I like the looks of those! Have you any idea how the pommel plate is attached?

The website states that the pommel is TIG welded. I like the idea of being able to tap/lightly hammer things if necessary.

Those scales came out nice. I'm usually put off by red and bright colored scales but those came out with kind of a washed denim look that's nice and understated while still giving you the ability to find it if dropped. Very cool.

Nice! I don't want to think about how long it might take to get mine, but it's great to see another person on the list get theirs.

Use it well!

I like mine alot. Only used it once though. Plan on putting it through a workout when I get home.

It is one of the most used knives I own. Glorious knife.

I've been waiting two years for mine. Rod says it'll be another month or two when I phone him. Quite a long wait. You and a couple others got yours after I ordered mine, so I'm wondering what's up. Maybe I should confront him. (Yeah I know there is no deposit, but still...)

A while ago I put a post (pg 2 I think), on the "Good,Bad,and the Ugly" about this. Rod seems like a nice honest guy and all, but I don't know why I've had to wait so long. Mentally, I've kind of given up on it- if I eventually get it, great. If not, there's all kinds of other good makers around here that I'm sure won't make wait that long for a knife.

Hope you will use your knife.

Stick in there mate. I waited a while for mine and just received it too.

You will not appreciate this knife until you hold it...

I think it is well worth the wait. I sent a about three "just checking in on the progress" e-mails. I don't know if that helped or not, but Rod always responded.

I will try to be patient. It's a real popular knife, right across the ocean. Rod must be overwhelmed with orders since the Tactical Knives issue.
