Have you ever seen a used Hanson folder? I wanted to post these pics because the way the patina formed is pretty interesting to me. I use this knife to cut fruit so that could explain the colors.

My question to Don or anyone is, why is the color blue along the edge more reddish as you go inward? It is happening on both sides of the blade and its pretty cool looking in the right light. Is the heat treat different on the edge or is this just a random phenomenon?

If anyone wants to show a patina on their blades feel free to post pics.

I can't remember the source, but many years ago, I recall some story a knifemaker told about the remarkable colors that citrus fruits would produce on ordinary carbon steel knives. Certainly has to do with the citric acid.

pork and beef can make a nice light blue haze

least on O1 i know for sure as that is what my kitchen knives are made of
onion makes a brown and peppers about the same (make lots of salsa )

Jon, the HT is the same throughout, so just a phenomenon. Does look good though.
Glad to see ya using it!

The damascus pattern itself looks amazing
I guess that sort of patina makes it look more better, isn't it Jonathan ;)
