Was thinking i'd like to strip and patina a battle grade...

Anyone got any gnarly pictures of patina on sr101?:)
And maybe some tips and tricks on how to attain said patina?

Hahaha, stip it through use!!
I'm strongly considering doing the same as Coyote, so I'll be watching for replies a well...

Rucki that carved our Thanksgiving turkey and ham, patina from that.

Scrapivore used as an EDC for a couple months.

Ratmandu that serves as my personal chefs knife.

Food prep is the easiest and most random way.
You can stick it in a tater, some lemons, an orange, a grapefruit, your mother in law.
Anything mildly acidic will patina the bare steel.

To get some of the results shown above, you'll need to start with a pretty shiny surface.

Just through normal use and putting the knife away without cleaning it...

Love it Rob!
You're definitely one of the guys who I owe my future (hopefully) Hogdom to.
I remember some of those pics from when I first started getting into the Busssekin world.

haha!! Cool :D

Another good way to get a patina on SR101 is to rub saliva on it. Leave it for a few minutes and you'll have a cool looking stain. So therefore it's safe to say that if you lick your knife, no-one else can have it :D

I literally laughed aloud, unfortunately my mother in law is more than mildly acidic... My wife had been disowned not one but two times by her mother!

Really?
My MIL has done it once as well!
They must be friends.

I DID NOT know this. Very cool.

Does forcing the patina protect it from rusting later or is it something more cosmetic?

My understanding is that it is similar to traditional bluing in that it helps to combat rust, but will not prevent it on it's own the way modern coatings can. Plus it looks purdy!
