So I just put a patina on my bk-16, but I didn't have a chance to sand it first. It came out like you see after 5 multi hour mustard treatments and 3 rounds of lemon juice and vinegar over a two day span. My questions are what stripper tends to worth the best for getting off the kind of coating the Becker knives have, and also do you think this patina will be suffiecient to protect the blade in the meantime until my micarta scales come in at which point I will sand and reapply the patina.

As long as you keep the knife dry and clean it after you use it you don't really need to even oil it. I just keep all mine dry and I never see any rust on them and I am in very humid South Florida. If I ever get them bloody skinning a deer or hog I just make sure to wipe it clean and dry it well in the field before resheating it and after I get home just wash it good with dishwashing detergent and dry it off. They all patina naturally to a nice mottled gray after some time.
