There have been a lot of threads and questions on threads about patina, how to obtain it, different vinegar soaks, etc. I decided I would help answer some of these questions by taking suggestions.
And now, the canvas.

Right now, it is on the porch for the night with tomatoes all over it. lol. I learned with my Opinel that this provides an amazing pattern.

So, now I am taking suggestions. Please tell me various things you would like to see tried, and I will see what I can do. The only things I won't do are things hazardous to me or the blade. Past that, have at! Suggest away!

So far I have

Blade wrapped in TP, soak in apple cider vinegar
blade sprayed with vinegar through a spray bottle
boiling apple cider vinegar poured over
tomato topping thing.

Mustard lets you control the patern.

I left my Opinel in Apple cider vinegar overnight and it actually ate ridges into the steel. Not deep enough to damage it mind you but a pretty cool effect.

I just bought a small 20 oz. bottle, emptied it to the length of the blade, and then dropped in the open knife.

I have also used a home blueing kit for my Condor Kumunga and CS tomahawk heads. In fact, for the Viking Hawk I used mustard first for a pattern, then blued over top of it.

Anyway, that has worked for me so far. I look forward to seeing other suggestions. Thanks for the thread!

You're right, tomatoes make the coolest pattern, I learned when making a sandwich with my MORA and have never had a lick of rust without any oiling

I got a similar pattern to that of NCSlices' using Grapefruit sections, but I lost the knife, so to speak. It's somewhere around the house, but I can find it at the moment.

I did this with drops of yellow mustard. iirc, drops not touching for about fifteen minutes wipe it off and did it again.
