I really appreciated all the feedback I got regarding Patriot Leather Company in this thread. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Experience?highlight=patriot+leather+company

I just received a Patriot Leather Company 'The Cavalry' sheath, and here is my brief review.

This sheath is built like a tank! It is seriously heavy duty and will certainly last for the foreseeable future, regardless of what I put it through. The quality of the workmanship and attention to detail is excellent. There are ZERO flaws on this sheath. The design is great. I wanted a sheath that provided full coverage, and this fits the bill perfectly.

The fit is… interesting. The sheath seems too long for my Recluse (the knife for which I ordered the sheath). However, it is a PERFECT fit for my Leuku. I am not sure what happened, and did not bother to follow up with Patriot Leather. The sheath is incredibly well built and I needed a sheath for my Leuku, so I am a happy customer.

Will I buy from Patriot Leather Company again? Yes! They make a great sheath!

:thumbup: Nice set up! The Patriot Leather Cavalry Sheath looks tough and well built, and your bolstered Bocote Leuku is Sweeeet!!! ;)
 
I'm glad you happened to have a knife that it fit, but wow... I'm thinking of ordering a Patriot sheath (I was searching for reviews when I found this thread), and for that money, I expect the sheath to fit the knife for which it's ordered perfectly... In terms of importance, fit would far and away be number one, as a matter of fact.

Little concerned moving ahead with an order... Has anybody else experienced fit issues with Patriot, or is the OP's experience a rarity? Not trying to call out Patriot at all, just understandably concerned reading this...

I have about 10 sheaths from Patriot Leather Company and I've honestly never had this problem. From Fiddlebacks to Spyderco to ESEE they all had a great fit. I'm also certain that if Skyler had been contacted about the mistake he would've done all he could to remedy the situation in a timely manner. :thumbup:

I bought one of their sheaths for my battlesaw, and it fit too tight. I couldn't seat the blade fully, and couldn't snap both snaps on the keeper. I sent it back on my dime, he made minor adjustments, said the fit was fine, and sent it back to me. It still didn't fit right. I guess my knife was on the big side.

I sold the sheath (disclosed the tight fit), and the buyer seems happy, so no huge deal.

The Leuku vs Recluse fit issue was not a big deal for me, and I am TOTALLY happy with the sheath. I was so happy with the sheath that I never contacted Patriot about the mixup. Although Patriot never got a chance to stand behind their product, I am fairly certain that they would have done whatever it took to make me happy. They have a good rep for making a quality product and providing excellent customer service.

There are a lot of good sheath makers out there, and IMHO Patriot makes the burliest leather sheaths on the market. Honestly, it is not even close; Patriot's stuff is built to survive a few zombie apocalypses.

Short version = After having the sheath for a few months, I continue to recommend Patriot.
 
Wish I had seen this sooner, my apologies. I do not get a great deal of forum time these days and have to spread it among all of the sub forums.

If there is ever a problem with something you receive all you have to do is email us, I will take care of it personally. Nrockclimb, pm me your info, I will build you one that fits what you paid for.

Never had an issue with Patriot Leather, and I have a few of his sheaths.

I can tell you Skyler's work is stellar, and he offers a lifetime guarantee on his sheaths. From previous reading of the forums and Sky's comment above I have seen him stand behind his product 100%.

I feel bad that this thread has become focused on the Recluse / Leuku issue.

Someone at Patriot shipped the wrong sheath. From the feedback of other customers, this is NOT a regular occurrence. Mistakes happen, and Skylar obviously cares enough about his customers to make the offer quoted above. Again, I never contacted Skylar / Patriot after I got my sheath because I was VERY impressed with the product and needed a sheath for my Leuku. I love my Patriot sheath, and I only mentioned the issue because I wanted to be honest in my review.

Skylar, I would love to get you to make me a sheath for my Recluse. However, I will place my order and pay full price. Your work is awesome and more than worth what you charge. I am 100% happy with the first sheath you sent me. Based on your response here and the quality of your product I am happy to buy more sheaths from you.
 
I have a cross draw sheath I've ordered. I can't wait. I've heard a lot of good, can't wait to experience it for my self.
 
Nice looking sheath. I like the snap closure. Very secure.

I am glad someone popped this back up. It reminds me I still need a similar sheath for my daughter. I'll have to get in touch with Skystorm after I catch up from the holidays...
 
I own a pair of Patriot leather's sheaths and they are definitely top shelf and you are right, you get a lot of leather for your cash.
