I love the blade of the CQC-13, but overall dislike the design because of the confining wrap-around grip. The Patriot looks like it might be just what I want, with the slight recurved clip point blade and a more versatile handle.

I'm curious how the Patriot cuts, feels in the hand, etc. compared to other Emersons?

I've been carrying my patriot every day for about 3 months straight now. The handle is great it is very ergonomic, but it's not a knife for small hands, because the grip is what I would say is longer than other Emerson's, which would make your hand have to stretch to grip it right if your hand was small, making it uncomfortable. As far as the blade, it's perfect, has a great tip, and still a lot of belly. Not to much belly to make it difficult to sharpen though. And in my opinion, this knife just looks awesome. Hope that helps a little

Some pics, I've used it pretty good and it's held up great.

I now have several emersons. The patriot is the one I prefer and carry almost everyday. I will carry the ETAK B on occasion. IO like their blade styles and the handles are right for my larger hands. ETAK B has the best handle for me. They are my two favorites.

I absolutely love my Patriots, I carry the NATH custom one as my EDC.

This is definitely my favorite Emerson grip style, the more I use it the more I like it.

The grip is similar to the awesome CQC-11 shown here with my two current patriots:

I have fairly big hands, but definitely disliked the handle's "belly". It felt like it was resisting my grip. To me, a convex round grip is less secure than a flat or concave grip (talking about the "fingers" side of the handle).

I loved the blade of the Patriot, but could not make myself like the handle.

My local knife store is an Emerson dealer. He received the ETAK-B and Patriot at the same time. I bought both on the same day. The ETAK-B was the one I wanted; I talked myself into the Patriot. As it turned out, I did not like the ETAK-B, but for some reason REALLY like the Patriot. I sold the ETAK-B and bought a second Patriot. I would say my hands are on the small side, but still the Patriot feels great to me, much better than ETAK. Knife feel is very subjective, but I'm a big fan of the Patriot.

Thanks everyone!

This is exactly what I needed to know. My hands are on the big side, I'm guessing I wouldn't like this one. I'll wait to see one in person before buying.
