I'm trying to figure out the "star-twist" pattern. I think that's what it's called. Can anybody give me a hand here before I beat my head against the wall one too many times.........maybe it's already too late.

I pity that poor wall. The way I understand it is you make a twisted billet the accordion cut it. Haven’t tried it YET

Are you talking about a twisted billet that when you grind into it, you expose stars? If so take 80 to 120 layers, forge down to around 1'' round ,twist it up real good, flaten it into a bar. To expose the stars you have to grind into it, the stars will be close to the center of the bar. You can forge the blade to shape but not the bevels, grind them in. Leave it a little thick and grind it down, should look good.

All the best, Don sunfishforge

There was a great thread here within the last 12 to 18 months. A bloke did a whole series of pics he twisted about 6 lengths and welded them side by side so that he had 6 rows of stars. I don't remember his name. If you are looking in can you put the thread link I would be keen to see it again.
