Pattern suggestion for Queen

Been doing a lot of work at my son's new house. He picked it up on a short sale and it's needed a lot of work that I've been helping him with. It's given me a chance to use a few of my knives in a more vigorous ways than usual. Today I brought the 301 and the Queen Country Cousin (with a fresh edge from my water stones). I've decided that I really like the CC in the D2. A pain to sharpen but that edge is tough. This got me thinking about the two knives that have served me best during my son's remodel. So here's my suggestion: a TL-29 pattern in D2. Think this would sell?

I don't. That is a real workingman's knife and those that favor that style of knife like them the cheaper, the better. You need a knife that if you cross a wire and burn (it is an electrician's knife) the blade you just cuss it and go on. You need a knife that you can touch up the edge on sandpaper while you are at lunch. You need a knife that if someone accidentally (or otherwise) walks off with it you won't be ready to kick someone's rear end.

I think that knife has filled its purpose being built exactly the way it is at its price point for so many decades that anything new just wouldn't work.

Just my 0.02....

I believe it would sell. Queen does a good job of making knives at a reasonable price point. (if they would just do a bit better job of making them gap and wiggle free I would buy more).

I think D2 is a great hard working steel, and I thin there would be a benefit to putting it in that pattern for sure.

I don't find D2 unreasonable to sharpen. I convex my edges, and a few sheets of sandpaper in the right grit would be all you need to touch up the edge "on the job".

I maintain mine on the strop.
