A Tony pattern weld steel, two thin layers forged to 01 core held up very well skinning my moose

Note how I used the copper hammer weld in after a deep etch, then sanded and tempered, leaving the copper below the nickle steel for an interesting effect. This treatment did not effect the performance of the blade.

You can see in the above picture how the 01 steel is along the edge, not the pattern steel. Below, Randy HHH steel performed well also . I wanted to know if all the 'decorations' and how steel is treated doing this work would effect performance. A good test because the hide had river silt-sand in it. We do not always know nor can predict what we may have to put out knives through.

Gorgeous blade and a great job on the Moose. I can practically taste the steaks from here.
 
Cool! I like your artistry and the san mai O1 core gives you a lot of room to experiment
on the sides, which you're certainly doing.
