I used IG’s press to make this approx. 64 layer of 01, band saw blade, and a couple of afterthought sheets of nickel. OAL is about 6 ¾”, blade about 3 ¾”, obviously still needs a handle

The same day I made this O1 billet, I had another one in process of 5160, saw blade and again the nickel. I wanted to twist this one, and that’s where the problems started, that piece is still at IG’s in a not quite welded condition. The stress of twisting kinda tore it apart, right IG? We were using the pipe threader that IG had recently acquired, and unfortunately went through a learning curve on this piece. When the electricity was turned on, it twisted off a piece about 2” long, good solid weld there, can still be used for attachments, we continued and got a piece about 4” long, good solid weld, but the last 3” unwelded, I guess it wasn’t a very solid weld to start with, although the way it came apart, there are 3 pieces that can also be used as furniture, i.e. guards for daggers..

:D :D

Looooking Gooood their Beaver. I think that my old welding forge could have been contaminated. Pete was over and had the same problem, but I wasn’t watch him that close and I noticed that the ball valve wasn’t opened all the way too.
