Am I right in thinking that Paul Bos oversees the heat treating process for the BG-42 offered in the PCKS customized 110s? I think I read that somewhere and I'm just looking for a little correction if it's in order?

Oh, and as far as an EDC setup, how versatile might a combination of a Busse Assault Shaker and a Buck 110 in BG 42? Am I missing something significant?

Gee, Thanks for the post references! I think its very cool that a man as respected as Mr. Bos takes the time to actually talk to his customers! I'm definitely feeling better about going with Buck for my knife needs, though I still think I'd like the Busse AS as a back-up for when I don't want to get my PCKS 110 all mussed up.... But...

About my second point? Opinions? any glaring errors that wouldn't be handled ably by the two knives mentioned? They would be for daily tasks and the occasional foray into the world of the difficult task. So? Whaddya think out there? Lots-a lookers, but no takers besides the rather nice gentleman who clued me in on the posts by Mr. Bos. Thanks, again!!!

Looks like a good combo to me. You've got a great cutter, and a small sharp prybar. That covers the usual stuff. :)

I don't understand the Assault Shaker myself. To me, it seems to thick to cut well, and too short to pry well. The blade actually has fair cutting geometry, but the handle is too small and awkward to allow you to use the strength of it.

I thought about the Assault shaker because it was a small fixed blade that is legal to carry most places, and is from a good company with a good steel. I don't need to pry apart Navy Destroyers, but sometimes I may have to pry, and I'd rather not break the tip on what would be my rather prized Buck 110! So, if you have any other suggestions for something like it, letterrip!!!

I think that the Assault Shaker is a great idea. It appears to be one of those "beat the piss out if it" kind of tools, without fear of killing it. Many of us use our SAK and leatherman blades for just this purpose, seeing them as disposable beaters. Why not get a small tool that was intended to be a no compromise beater? One that will last forever without breaking in half.

The Assault Shaker is very high on my list of using knives to buy. And I can hardly think of a better folder than a PCKS Buck 110 to go with it. You get an absilutely sensational cutter this way, and something to use when you're tacking those "knife slayer" kind of jobs.

Cut rope? Bust out the PCKS 110
Cut cardboard? Bust out the PCKS 110.
Cut cardboard that's riddled with staples? Bust out the Assault Shaker
Cut coax cable? Bust out the Assault Shaker.
