Does anybody have one of these? It apears that as you draw the knife from the belt buckle the blade comes out the front. I was wondering what the quality was like on this knife. I like it just for the gadget factor, but was wondering how the lockup is.

the lock up is decent, I haven't had mine retract on me yet, but all I've used it for is cutting paper, it's not a tight one though, you'll definitely have play because of the mechanisms involved in the lock. I don't wear mine but just playing around with it, it takes some practice to re-insert it without looking.

the blade is not shaped for stabbing at all being a sheepsfoot, so retracting is not really a concern, I'm more worried about the hand sliding up the blade in use, but considering what it is supposed to be, I'd say if this knife is being used, there are much bigger problems to worry about.

It does seem like it would make a nice last ditch slasher. I just like the hidden aspect of it. The way it's designed you wouldn't know its a knife at all.

it's one of the better ones out there, I handled the katz one, though they have a lot more choices for the handle material, it's pretty obvious what it is, the bowens...well, I just don't feel good about my pants possibly falling off after I draw the knife, the paul chen...once you know what to look for, it's not going to disappear but the pocket clip is the same in that regard.

Just wondering, are these things custom made or factory made or what? I have one and I thought it was just a cheap chinese made knife, I didn't know there was a named designer behind it. It does have a lot of blade play and it does feel kinda cheap. But, it does look nice and takes a very sharp edge. On the coolness factor scale is is a definate 10. I wouldn't use it as my everyday use knife, but it would be fine as a backup.

if you have the ones we are talking about, hanwei buckle slider 440c steel blade with horn scale with silver inlay, then it's factory made. hanwei forge is the factory's name and paul chen is the guy who owns it. export only, located in dalian, China.
