does anybody have any information regarding quality of Hanwei's training swords. i am thinking of getting one but i thought i'd ask here first before dishing out $$$...any info will be appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

if you want it for Iaido/Iaijutsu it will do the job, I've heard both good and bad about them...and frankly for the price, you cant go wrong. I'm ordering one once my tax check arrives, I need an iaito for my iaido studies :)

yeah, well the sword with me is a minor cost on what i need...for a new hakama and gi its costing me close on the amount of a custom katana, my school is very picky about clothing, iaito not so much. and japanese iaito are very pricey.

post up your impressions of it when you recieve it. :)

ive found them to be very good. i personally have owned one for about a year now and am very pleased with it. its balanced quite well and is very lively. it has, i guess, what some would call the soul of a true katana. ive found that that because they're steel they can take being dropped by accident and can and will hold up. there is a place where you can get exquisite Iaito. www.tozando.com. they're very pricey but are well worth the money spent. The only thing i would watch for is that these iaito are an alloy and arent as strong as the Nami and Gorin Hanwei training swords. they're are also a number of somewhat "fakes" they are steel but are very thick and very heavy. they are often times sold as "iaito" but are truly more suited for display. they are made in japan however, but dont let that fool you...they arent really good blades and break very easily. and if youve been practicing kata for a while they are extremely heavy blades. most excededing 5 pounds. the Nami and Gorin blades both are about 2 1/2 pounds.
