I just got it today. I was a little reluctant to purchase this due to quality concerns. Most Chinese product I have seen is of fair to poor quality.

Nobody really offers a quality tanto with this style blade. So I spent the $85 bones and rolled the dice!

I have to say I am very pleased.
Nice knife! About 6 1/2 inch blade carbon steel, distal taper flat ground differentially tempered.
Good weight Great sheath, (although a little odd),

The only problem I have is with the handle material it is a molded plastic ray skin looking stuff, it't grippy but poorly fitted. The Knife completely disasembles so I think I will replace the handle with a piece of micarta.

I took it all apart, Nice beefy tang! Fitings look like painted or powder coated steel.

I am going to sharpen it up to my satisfaction and do a little cutting.

I've been flirting with the idea of getting one of these. Thank you for your post. It is encouraging. Please let me know how the sharpening and cutting went.
Thanks.

I have been looking at this knife recently due the fact that it appears to be the only production knife with a true tanto shaped blade. As I live in the UK I contacted a major UK supplier who sent me the info below. I was put off by the low price - an indicator of low quality?? The grip is supposed to be genuine rayskin.

'Like all Hanwei knives the build quality is good. The carbon steel blade performs well and looks great with the blued finish. The handle is Rayskin which is well textured and provides excellent grip.
The Tactical Tanto combines the best attributes of a traditional tanto with modern features that make this an eminently practical tool. The genuine rayskin grip and distal-tapered, edge-tempered blade (60HRC edge) with its distinctive temper line are strictly tanto, but everything else is pure Paul Chen. The 7” high-carbon blade is blued and under the rayskin a heavy tang provides strength and enough weight for effective use of the pommel. A spring latch provides positive retention in the powder-coated steel sheath, which is nylon-lined for quiet operation. Two positions are provided for attaching the ViseClip™ mounting, allowing ultra-secure handle-up or handle-down carry.

High carbon steel blade, edge-tempered
Rayskin grip
Steel sheath with latch
