I recently acquired a second=hand knife that caught my eyes.a gerber paul series ll model 2 model. If someone could help me clear a few points;first its'originally mirror polished.I cleared the acid stains on it but I never owned a blade that polished.how can I restore it ?
It's the tighest mechanical knife I ever seen and owned .I read at lone wolf's quote<snapest one hand opening>> bizarre,is it an automatic? mine is pretty hard to open and there 's no nail notch onthe blade. Also on the button <1997 final production run >.Anyone for help ? clic,clic...

Paul knives open and close by holding in the button and rotating the blade out. The blade locks in both the open and closed positions.

I don't see how you could one hand open it unless you use the swing the handle down method (I couldn't do it to my satisfaction).

Every one I've handled in fair or better condition did have an impressive "snap" when opening/closing. Impressive mechanical sound.

Polishing up the blade could be a problem. I'm ignorant in that area, as I've not had much success in my attempts at such tasks (at least to the standard of those factory shines). You might ask over in the Toolshed area or ShopTalk area.

done some polishing;armorer's steel wool, not ss unfortunately, would have been better thouhg.after that leather, you know added some light polishing compound =almost mint now. By the way, clicks soundly and very very firmly both ways
