A few months back, I got in touch with Paul Reynolds with a basic idea for a knife: small talonite neck knife, blade about 3 inches, small profile.

Well, after many emails back and forth on design, materials and so on (those things that are so hard to decide on in a knife) we decided on a design. It would have a carbon fiber handle, 3 inch clip point talonite blade, full tang. It would have a special sheath, more a scabard than your average kydex piece, made of carbon as well.

Anyhow, just got my hands on the piece, and I am VERY happy with it.

For pics, please go to Pauls website:

(Sorry, but I dont know to post pics!)

Its all the above, and more. The blade is shaving sharp, the action to take it out of the sheath great and the carbon looks fantastic.
It has a really low profile (9.5mm, or 3/8"), as well as being not too wide, making for a really comfortable fit under the shirt.
A removeable clip also allows for belt carry or boot carry.

The feel of the knife is great, the rounded carbon fits well into my hand. The carbon is slightly gritty, which helps for grip and is important (IMHO) for a neck knife on a hot day.
Wearing it right now (apart from those moments that I take it out and play with it....), and it feels really comfortable.

I have to say that I am truly happy with my new knife. The construction is flawless and I think that it will serve me well for many years to come.

I have to say also that I was really impressed with the service that Paul offers.... we had some really good discussions about the knife (and other knife topics as well) and I have learnt many knife facts from him. So, if you want a great knife and great service, keep Paul in mind....

One final thing.... Has anyone else noticed that knife buyers are getting a great deal here? We give bits of green paper to a guy, who gives us a great tool that will last us the rest of our lives and be really usefull as well.....
Just a thought.

Thanks for reading, and sorry about not having any pics on the post, but I had no idea how to!

Very cool necker, Lorax. I like the way the pattern of the carbon fiber looks the way it was shaped. But the carry-rig really gets me going. It looks like a slim, sturdy, user-friendly design that is quite visually appealing as well. Very innovative. Is the carbon fiber springy enough to allow the knife to slip easily, and sit snuggly in the sheath?
