THought you guys might be interested in some of the responses I got from my teammates when I showed them the Paul's Hatchet I ordered:

My Favorite: "what the hell is that thing?!"

"what is that? a tactical meat cleaver?"

" no comment-just shaking head repeatidly and laughing"

" you definately are a 18C (SF engineer)"

"it looks like one of those alaskan skinner things"

"WTF"

"hummm, interesting, can I see it" (then proceeds to chop at a table top)

This is, actually, a fairly astute observation. The head of the PH does resemble (both in shape and possible application) the Ulu, an Alaska Native skinning, chopping, utility-type food prep knife.

{editied because the spelling and typing bones are evidently operating independantly of each other today}

Yeah, when I first saw the PH on the web, that is what I thought-a cross between a alaskan ula and a small camp hatchet. Actually, I think the PH is a really useful tool. Even been contemplating its uses for the Fire Dept when I return to civilian life.

JUst think of the responses I would have had if Jerry really would have shipped a box of folders to us!!:D :D

Well, I don't know what the team would have thought of the folders but... I'm pretty sure the response here on the boards would have been to put a price on your head...:p :D

Yes, I can see it now. Our team under seige by 1000 screaming INFI welding busse forum members as they come running down the hill to try and get the folders.
Progunner in his fury hat with a BM in each hand.
Spearhead trying to tactically get one us from a helicopter with a flying Birds Beak Steel Heart.
Skunk out in front on his four wheeler leading the pack.
Shaggi the nurse issuing bandaages and pressure dressings.
Blade Babe wearing her camo mini, trying to distract us.
Nick681 taking a small team and trying to flank us, with a Desert mojo gripped between his teeth.
Mormon Sniper trying to get off a long shot at us with his M-24, with INFI tipped .308 match grade bullets.
Nimrod covered in INFI body armor charging full force towards our door-bullets just bouncing off of him.
Jerry thinking, what have I done! Oh, well back to grinding and having a cold CBL!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't forget my SH variant bowie with the sharpened clip point,it will be clutched between my teeth! You guys wouldn't have a chance! INFI is our religion and you know how hard religious zealots fight! :D

ranger, what do your team mates carry for blades? are you the only busse nut or are any of the others infected?:)

ON my team there are two of us who collect knives and another one who kind of is into knives. The other knive collector has a bunch of Randalls in his safe at home. BUt he currently carries a Strider MFS which I bought for him at his request in a trade for his Al MAr pathfinder. I also just sold him one of the Busse NOs I had. HE also has a cold steel LTC kukuri. THe other guy used to actually be a dealer for TOPS. He has a TOPS 6" knife. He just bought the Busse BA3 I had off of me. MOst all of the guys have leathermans and some type of clipit folder. Various brands are SPyderco, Kershaw, Al MAre sere and Benchmade. ONe has a Boker folder with rosewood handles that is very nice. For fixed blades most just use their issue bayonet if need be, as I pretty much used to. Two guys have CRKT Kasper fixed blades they wear concealed. OF course there are a couple guys that are as into guns as I am into knives. One of my teammates has about 20 M-4 variants at home- and he ask me why I need more than one knife!!!!!!!!!!Oh, and the newest guy on my team, the youngster, who just graduated from the SFQC and then linked up with us for this deployment, has his Chris Reeve serialed number Yarbourgh Knive he was awarded-but kept it at home. My current knives I have with me are a Leatherman crunch (which I really do not like), a Benchmade 940 (which I love), Busse PH, ARK, AS, NO, BAe, and the al mar pathfinder

I love the PH; but all my "tactical" buddies laugh & say what are you going to do with that thing?
I say "when you carry a knife people may think you are a little crazy but when you tote a little axe they know you are friggin' nuts!!!!!":D  :D
