Hello,

I have small problem, from some time I have some slow in sales..
Too big prices or what can cause this ?

Cheers,
Konrad

Konrad, no your pricing is fine it's just a really soft market right now. People are waiting on the last few releases production companies have promised and no one is buying much. It's a buyers market right now meaning anyone who is selling has to mark their knives below value just to entice people to buy. In a month or two it will pick up drastically due to big game hunting seasons opening and the Holidays. If you absolutely need the income you can throw in deals but if you don't have to have money now I'd wait personally. I had to sell three knives lately and s125v s110v and Vanadis 4 extra and the first two came with CF scales and only the s110 is selling and I'm waiting on the buyer to gather up his money so it isn't even sold at this point.

Market is slow, knives that usually sell in a day for me took a month, lots of makers are dropping prices in disparity and the savy buyers are watching waiting on a deal. My advice is give a bit more than usual, make the sale special and personal

Not just you Im seeing it all over..We also have more makers right now than Ive seen in years. Lots of competition out there right now

In 2-3 months I going to get also into Folder knives.
Maybe this will helpo me :)

I have couple of nice designs.

I've been doing this a long time. We sell not only knives but other handcrafted items. We always see a slow down in the summer and then it picks back up come fall.

I believe it is the upcoming elections that have people holding tight. My business is down as well. No one likes the feeling of insecurity.

July/August is usually a little slow for me. I like to think it's the summer heat, back to school, busy time of the year. Sales really picked up last week and I'll be swamped through January.

Yes, pretty much every business I know has noticed the slow down. I think it is partly the elections and partly the "uneasiness" that the entire world is feeling right now. It is usually like this in the early fall, and starts to pick up as the holidays approach and peoples spirits get a lift.

not to be political but we must also remember the ACA , this year the fee for not having insurance was $695.00 per person or 2.5% of your income whichever is greater . Some one I know of , a single guy paid $1200.00 last year for not carrying insurance . 2017 the fee will go up with inflation .

I have really noticed a huge flood of newbies here on the forum as of late. I have not tracked the new makers in the sales area as this is not my income job. I use knife making as an excuse to hord tools and relax. But I feel for you guys who are feeling the pinch. It's nice to just do it for fun and if it does not sell then it goes in the box with the rest. But lots of times I will get asked what I got for sale so I bring out the box and lots of times sell somthing. Just the other day I got asked if I had any fillet knives, I just happen to have that nice 9" fillet I forge from a big 52100 roller bearing. One look and sold on the spot, which seams hard for fillet knives because most people think of fillet knives as $19 Walmart specials. So thy are taken back by tripple digit figures. But I move a lot of them Around here. Keep your chin up guys and things will come around, at least what we make does not spoil and go bad if it sits around.

use the social media platforms and post lots of pics of finished and WIP. Build up a bit of a following and generate a "no commitment" type waitlist to keep you busy. Still make time for non commissioned stuff. Lots of people only want to buy on the spot but there is many who have the patience to sit back and watch the progress unfold over the span of a few months.

local sales are taking a hit here because of the collapse of Coal..Our local economy has ridden on the back of coal for more than a century..Now that its taken a huge downturn its trickling down into everything else..everything was tied to coal somehow..

FOr me, its been an issue of advertising. I have been having trouble reaching new customers. I support and frequent this forum, but with a full class load at college studying Chemistry, i cant frequent many forums the way I do this one.

I can understand why businesses slow down. Too many unknowns for the future . If they knew what the future would be [ whether good or bad ] they could work with that . But if they don't know they hold back !
