Pawn shop CRK?

I remember a little over a year ago visiting several pawn shops in south Austin Tx and seeing the same two or three Sebenza's in the case at each place. I thought this was odd because other than the gold and guns they were probably the most expensive things in the store but I didn't have that kind of money anyway so didn't ask any questions. I'm beginning to wonder though if they weren't all fake. I never handled any but it seems suspicious. What are the odds of finding roughly 8 Sebenza's on literally the same street all new with box in pawn shops? Anybody else have experiences of finding sketchy knives at a brick and mortar?

This was down on South Congress. Just pulled it up on Google Maps. Looking at Mustang pawn just north of Stassney, as well as Top Cash Pawn and Austin Pawn and Jewelry. They're all within about a mile of each other.

Hmmm maybe someone was unloading a quiver of CRKs but each shop would only take a couple? So the owner just hit all the shops nearby? Or similar scenario but a thief unloading at multiple pawn shops? Did you say each shop had the exact same models?

Mainly just their proximity to one another. I've never seen a CRK in a brick and mortar, much less a pawn shop. But Austin is weird after all so it's hard to say. My feeling was that if someone had several as part of a collection they would have sold them on Craigslist or through one of the higher end consignment shops. Not a lot of folks coming through south-side pawn shops looking for $300 knives. Then again, I was there looking.

What brought this to mind was someone advising me in a separate post to be wary of a $30 Native III I found at a pawn shop, but this being Mississippi I'm willing to bet they just don't know what they have. I'm still going to scrutinize every inch before I pull the trigger though.

That's about right for Native III if not in great condition. That and I doubt Natives are big clone targets.
