Hi All you Buck fans!!

I ran into a nighthawk 650 today and never considered buying one in the past mainly because I didn't like the look of the sheath and never got a chance to put my hand around one. I looked at it and man, that is a thick slab of steel! This one has been carried and used but it's still in very good shape. I'll have many more years of service from it. Do you all know if the knife has a full tang?

The best part........$20 out the door!!

Well I'm a fan now.

Good deal! I've got quite a few of the Nighthawk models and have always thought they were very much underappreciated and often undervalued either in price, utility or both.

Funny how pawnshop finds go - you just never know! $20 OTD is a great deal. OH

I was in an antique mall yesterday and found a NIB Buck 619 (black Kraton handle) with very good box and papers, etc. The fellow would come down to $50 OTD but I didn't like it enough to spring for it. I also am dubious of soft synthetic handles - figured it would deteriorate in time. OH

I found a benchmade auto tanto one time for $75. Many spyderco's including a balisong, one of those wild looking ones.

The 650 is a good knife and you found it at a good price. A full tang can be seen between the handle slabs. Thus, it is not a full tang. It has a hidden tang or rat-tail tang which runs the length of the handle. DM

I love the looks of the old Nighthawks without the air tank (or whatever they are) cutouts in them. My kid brother ad one several years ago. I think he lost it or sold it.

Well, I got some use this past Saturday. I cut up a large quantity of deer with it and it worked well for what I was doing; cutting up cubes to wrap bacon around and then put them on the smoker. I sharpened it once with a rod and went right back to work. Super knife. I like the thickness of it. It might had worked a little better a few times if it were thinner but the thickness and grip allowed me to work through some larger pieces with out much effort. I'll take it the way it is!
