The other day I was checking the pawn shop for any good deals just waiting to be found. Most of the stuff is nothing but junk but right on the top shelf was a Buck 397-1 complete with nylon case for $12. An online check shows it goes new for $45 to $63 depending on the retailer. Personally I think I got a good deal on it but I can't find many reviews compared to more infamous models like the 110 and 119.

I like the 397. it has a wide blade probably good for skinning or any other out door work. As a matter of fact, I gave one to my best friend for his birthday last year. As for $12, you can't beat that...

Great find. I picked up one on clearance a couple years ago at Wally's and at $30 i felt like I was stealing. 12 bucks is great.

Its actually a great knife for camping, hunting and kitchen duties.I used mine a fair amount and have no complaints, very comfortable in the hand during long skinning chores.
