Before I write this please know I'm more of a knife enthusiast, I know really nothing at all about swords so that is why I am here. For the price I got this for I think I got a deal.
I was doing my usual Saturday pawn shop runs looking for knives and at the second pawn shop I stopped at I noticed 4 katanas in the corner. No big deal because they are always these cheap Chinese paperweights everybody buys and puts up for decorations right? Well I said what the heck, I been watching too many Cold Steel videos, I'll look at them for the heck of it. I picked up the first 3 and immediately put them down. I picked up the 4th one and was like wow, this is pretty heavy. I quickly started to realize this wasn't that cheaply made and might be something. It looks like some sort of Damascus steel from the pictures? It still has the original manufactures edge which is almost hair whittling sharp (The edge really impressed me) The little boy in me couldn't resist cutting a few stems sticking out on some bushes when I got home. It has light rust spots here & there down the blade. The whole sword itself just feels solid and hefty. There is no play whatsoever between the tang and the rest of the blade. The hand guard, pommel and blade collar is either made of brass or copper, not really sure. There was no sheath at all. The hand guard however has some play in it. You can tell this is an older sword and of course is dirty and needs to be cleaned. Any help I can get identifying this would be appreciated!

for 25$ that is a score. You might try some 0000 steel wool to take the rust spots off, just watch your fingers :D

I'd get that for 25$ in a heartbeat. Not genuine, but hardly the worst replica I've ever seen. My first sword still carries that title XD.
