My local pawnshop that had been closed for the last 2 weeks finally reopened, so i have my source for cheap, used SAK's back
here's the latest haul....
From smallest to largest (all Victorinox)....
i picked up another pair of Signature Lites, a Ruby one and a Smoke one, and gave mom my old Sapphire one ($5 each)
an Explorer was next on the list, great standard SAK, has the standard pair of blades, scissors, magnifying lens, inline phillips, can opener, bottle opener and corkscrew, this one was a little rough and is going to need some serious cleaning, maybe a new pair of scales, i did use 000 steel wool to smooth off the cosmetic dings and scratches, it actually gave it a passably nice matte finish on the scales ($10)
Next was an older-style Swisschamp, all the top bay tools, just minus the package hook, this will be going in my bicycling emergency kit ($20)
and finally, a 111MM Hunter, this also is going to need a good cleaning, but as soon as i saw that small Hawkbill-style serrated "gutting blade", i couldn't resist, this also has the Combo tool in place of the can opener/bottle opener pairing ($15)
not a bad haul if i do say so myself....
Felinevet i checked out the Alox knives there, they were selling for $10 ea. and all were in pretty poor shape, beat up, worn scales, most of them were Soldiers, sorry to get your hopes up
