Pay It Forward -- it's been a while

Ladies & Gentlemen,

I'm not sure how many of you remember the "pay it forward" threads from a few years back, but they were truly an outstanding showcase of the generosity of the members on this forum. I'm not sure if this will "catch" again...if I remember right, we had six or seven re-incarnations of this thread a few years ago. However, I do think that it's a truly giving and neat way for people to share their interests with others for the pure satisfaction of simply giving to another person with no expectation of something in return.

The rules are simple: there really are no rules besides your own moral compass; don't be a douche and try to scoop up everything people offer up and not offer up anything yourself. It's just messed up, and I'm pretty sure most people here will see through that. Offer something up for someone to take...send it their way, and hopefully they will continue to keep the good vibes going by offering something themselves. You guys just figure out shipping and all that on your own. Make whatever stipulations you want on what you're offering up...let's just keep it civil and reasonable!

To start it off, I'm going to offer up a fitting knife that I actually procured from the pay it forward threads years ago. It's a Boker Plus subcom with a wharncliffe blade in AUS 8A. I've used it quite a bit since then but it's still in outstanding shape. It's sat idle for a long time and I think it's time it found a new home.

Great idea , so people just don't sign up to do this and are gone could a minimum post limit be done?

In my opinion, it's not really in the spirit of it to limit it like that...if it's alright with you guys, I think it's just best to leave it up to those paying an item forward to determine if they think the person "claiming" it is genuine or just a jerk scammer. Fair? :)

I think this is a very fine idea. I will throw something into the mix once all the qualifiers are sorted out and i can get home to put my hands on something. Thanks for starting this off!

If this was just a giveaway on my part, I'd be comfortable limiting it based on my discretion...but this isn't a one man show. This is intended to be a place where people invest in the goodness of others and display generosity and kindness. If there's someone trying to snag everything and giving nothing, we will know and we can ignore that person. I don't want to go ahead and place restrictions on this...this is intended for anyone who feels like it to "pay forward" their own good fortune and bring joy to someone else.

I was pretty involved in the first of these, and restrictions didn't really work. It became a kind of swap meet once that was brought in. It was a fantastic spurt of generosity when it was in full swing. Just my $.02

Sounds good to me.

I just like the idea that those that contribute are able to not be taken by those who are greedy.

I will be participating, and posting up something(s) that I don't carry for whomever to grab when I am able to do so.

What happened to this thread?? It kind of fell off. Let's get this thing rolling again!

Hey NY, that Boker looks awfully familiar. Is that the one I paid forward, those many years ago? Regardless, I think it's great you're starting the tradition up again. I was thinking about that not too long ago. I'd gladly take part, but where are we?

This is a great idea, I was gifted a knife from a forum member a few months back and it's been my edc since the day I got it.
Currently I don't have anything to give away as I already gave the stuff I didn't want to my cousin to help get him further into his knife hobby.

I'd like to offer up a very lightly used Spyderco Domino with a custom desert ironwood scale from Spketch. I'll also throw in the original carbon fiber scale.
